Flourishing through ‘Doing’ Art!
Navigating the complex relationship between thinking, doing and flourishing.
Doing Together: Creative Practice Research Symposium 2024 was a two-day making and sharing practice symposium at Locksbrook Campus, hosted by Bath Spa University’s Centre of Cultural and Creative Industries and Art Research Centre. The symposium culminated in a reflective discussion on the event as it evolved, facilitated by external guest Dr Lauren Redhead (Goldsmiths).
In this workshop, we explored what the connection is between ‘thinking about’ and ‘doing’ art together? And how do these connections relate to flourishing artists? In short, we considered the nature of ‘doing’ art for human flourishing.
We used a powerful approach that incorporates World café methods (creative, artistic, connecting, sense-making activities), philosophical insights, and Group flow techniques, to explore questions and themes around thinking & doing, as well as personal/ professional growth, for flourishing. We worked in rounds of rich conversations to learn from one another. The outputs from this workshop were then part of the ‘Doing Together 2024’ Gallery exhibition at Locksbrook campus.
