‘Imagining flourishing neighbourhoods in Sheffield’

Overview

Eri Mountbatten-O’Malley (PhD) and Dr Simon Duffy supported citizens of Sheffield to develop their vision of flourishing neighbourhoods. This work built on Citizen Network’s ‘It’s Our Community’ programme and explored how citizens, the voluntary sector and health and social care services can rebuild their relationships around a flourishing framework for the people of Sheffield.

As a group of interested and active citizens and members of the local community, we asked the three key questions:

1. Learning from the past: What have we learnt so far?

2. Conceptual work: What does flourishing look and feel like for people in neighbourhoods & communities?

3. Blue sky thinking: as members of the community, what role do we have in nurturing spaces for flourishing communities? And what can we do about it?

Lessons from this FlourishCafe will feed into a variety of local initiatives. To keep abreast of local changes please subscribe and contact incredible local leaders such as Dr Simon Duffy at Citizen Network and/ or Brian Mosley of LoveSheffield.net!

We would like to thank all local residents who came and made this a thorough energizing event.

We would also like to thank all our partners listed at the top of this webpage, but in particular the lovely chaps and chapesses at Opus Independents, organisers of the incredible Festival of Debate, especially Natalie Burton who was there on the day giving hands on support throughout!

We would also like to thank Matt Hill and the team at Union Street Collective for being so helpful and supportive. Likewise, thanks to Chris Hanson at Chef’s Corner for providing incredible, quality delicious food at affordable prices for us! We’ll remember your generosity!

Finally, thank you to Laure from Adva Photography who provided, for free, the best images used in this webpage above (the bad ones are all mine!). Your images are beautiful and stunning… you were also not just doing photography but you were with us, engaged, interested and curious. We’re thrilled to have had you there!

FlourishCafé looks forward to working with you all again to support flourishing communities in Sheffield!
